Outlook 2007/Vista + appointments

david

For some reason, in the last several days, when I am sent an appointment by
another outlook user (also vista/2007), my outlook freezes and is
non-responsive and I have to close outlook and reopen. I cannot view these
appointments (to accept/reject or even delete) - they remain in my inbox and
if I try to open (or view in the reading pane), outlook stops running.
Is this a bug or is there a way to fix it? How can I delete them without
choosing them since once I place my cursor on the message, it freezes and I
can't delete the ones below or above that message (including the bad
messages) since it also freezes.
Please help - it's becoming very difficult to use outlook.

What is your exact Outlook version? Choose Help-> About
What mail account type are you using?

You should be able to delete the items by simply turning off the Reading
Pane or by starting Outlook in Safe Mode;
Start-> type; outlook.exe /safe

Outlook version 2007 (12.0.6212.1000) SP1 MSO (12.0.6213.1000)
What do you mean by 'Mail Account' - using Outlook to access mail from
hosting company. All the mails work, except for these specific appointments.

POP3, IMAP, Exchange, HTTP, etc...

Managed to delete them already by the instructions I gave?

POP3.
Tried through safe mode and by removing the reading pane and both attempts
don't work.
It's isolated (it seems) to these calendar appointment requests, but
whenever they are part of the selection (either on their own) or with a group
of mails, the outlook freezes and is non-responsive.

Suggestions?

Scan your pst-file for errors with scanpst.exe and see if it finds some
errors to fix.

Hi
I'm having exactly the same problem! Outlook just freazes (50% CPU) when trying to Receive/Open/Confirm/Delete any appointments that I get from some specific computer.

Any Ideas?

I had the same exact problem and I found the way!

Create a rule!

I created a rule, all messages with "_________ in the subject" (fill in a
unique and exact string of words), then select "permanently delete," and then
run on all messages in the folder they're located in.

After daysof frustration, Voila - they just disappeared.

Good luck and I hope it works for all the other frustrated Outlook users who
can't view or delete corrupt of calendar items without Outlook freezing.

Outlook, Calendar, Corrupt, Delete, Freezes - hoping that it will help others
