WHy does my table of Contents change when I e-mail my document

When I e-mail my Word document as an attachment, the page numbers in my Table
of Contents all change to 1s. Can anybody help?

Probably because the recipient is opening the document directly from the
attachment in Reading Layout view.

Suzanne, I get exactly the same problem. If it is as you say because you are
opening the document directly from the attachment in Reading Layout view, how
do you stop this happening.

I have found even before I send the e-mail if I add an attachment where the
table of contents are fine, then open it in the e-mail the table of contents
has reset to 1.

The only thing you can do is suggest that the recipient disable Reading
Layout view. Alternatively, after opening the document and switching views,
the recipient can select the TOC and press F9 to update it, which should
correct the problem.
