WHY DOES MY BIOS SCREEN HANG?

Hi,
Anyone know why my Bios screen hangs, changed my memory still the same taken
out the AGP card and cleaned it, the same, it just does not seem to boot
beyond my Post screen but after say 3 mins or longer it will read out the
memory 1124 which is 1Gb PC400 then it will boot into windows normal and
everything is fine in windows Xp Pro but when i boot down and go to boot back
up the same problem is back also you can not turn it off at the power switch
on the front of the machine you have to hold it in for about 5 seconds then
it will turn off the reset works fine and you can wait ages for access to the
bios settings, on the advice of someone else i updated my bios by flashing it
using the MSI update software so I knew that it would be safe but the problem
is still there, even unplugged the drives and CD get the same result.

My spec of the system:

MSI 7061 Board
Award Bios 16/2/05
WD HDD 120Gb
Seagate 40Gb
Nec CD/CDRW
DDR Ram: 1Gb PC400
Windows Xp Pro
Macfee Internet Security 2006
Norton Go Back

I am just puzzled as to what may be causing this problem anyone know please
reply here or email me direct to iain_stevens69-at-yahoo.dot co dot uk

Several reasons, 1 you cracked the board while changing out components, 2 you
shorted out the board by dropping a screw or other metal object on the board,
3 dropped water on the unit (there was a call placed to CMPK support
requesting a replacement for the CUP HOLDER on their PC, after an extensive
diagnosis, 15 min, it was realized by the support staff that the CUP HOLDER
was actually the CD-ROM tray. (TRUE STORY) Fill in the missing
letters.........

This is not a Windows problem. You are having hardware failure. Here are
some general hardware troubleshooting steps:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Hardware_Troubleshooting

Testing hardware failures often involves swapping out suspected parts
with known-good parts. If you can't do the testing yourself and/or are
uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a professional
computer repair shop (not your local equivalent of BigStoreUSA).
