Why does font resize when I apply a 2007 template?

When I create presentations off my template all the formatting appears as it
should, but when I apply it to other presentations (created off old
templates, many of them from MS 2003 version), the font in both headings and
body text boxes is resized. Sometimes the font size increases (44 to 49),
sometimes it decreases (44 to 39). Does anyone know how to fix this? All the
other theme properties - colors, layouts, etc. - transfer fine, but I have to
change the font size on the Slide Masters of each presentation after I apply
my template (which kind of defeats the purpose). Is this a coding issue? I
can dabble with XML but I don't know what to look for that would need to be
changed. Please help!! I'd appreciate ANY suggestions.

Does the font size actually change on the slide masters and layouts, or does
it just get applied wrong when you apply the template?

If the latter, try using the "reset" button on the Home tab.

The font size changes on the slide master and layouts, so the reset button
doesn't work. Using the Reuse Slides process works for some of the
presentations but not for a couple of them. Is it possible that the 2007
template these "problem presentations" were based on had formatting applied
that's now part of the document (such as applying the decrease/increase font
size button)?

P.S. The instructions on your website for modifying XML code to create a
color theme were great - it was the only useful information I could find
about that. Thanks a ton!

Well, yeah, direct formatting could -- and often does -- cause the kind of
font size wonkiness (technical term, that) you describe. But using "reset"
should take the slide back to its roots, so to speak. In PPT 2003, sometimes
you have to use "reapply layout" twice -- so it's possible you may need to
use "reset" (which is the reapply layout equivalent) twice in 2007.

However, if your slide masters are also changing font size on the
placeholder, that's not good. Or right. Something strange is afoot, it
seems.

If you want to send me a couple of sample slides and your template along
with step-by-steps for how you're applying the template or inserting slides
or what have you, I'm happy to take a look and see what I can see and then
we can report back here with out findings. email is echos at indy dot net

Oh, I'm so glad to hear that those are actually useful! I also don't know of
anywhere else it's documented, and I thought it was such a cool thing...but
I didn't know if anyone else would ever use it or not.
