It's called supply and demand. Some people will blindly upgrade an older
system when they could get a new one cheaper. that's just the way some
people are.

XP really runs swell on even a Duron 700 if it has 384Mb of memory. That is,
256 added to the original 128. It will actually run in 128, but a 7200 rpm
disk is needed to swap fast enough. I know that because I did two XP
upgrades from Wins 98 and ME, and with 128Mb only, while waiting for more
memory to come from newegg. One machine had a 7200 rpm disk, the other a
5400.
