Why did this program delete all of my mp3s???

I ran this anti spyware program to delete spyware
associated with kazaa, imesh, and morpheus...and it winds
up deleting all of my mp3s!!! my question is: Is there
ANY way I can undo these deletions and restore my mp3
collection?

Other programs know the difference between spyware and
mp3s. You Microsoft developers need to fix this problem
with this software. I can't tell you how annoyed I am
right now.

Bobby;
Open the program and click on Tools
Click Spyware Scan
Click Manage Spyware Quarantine
See if the files are there.
Click Tools
Click Advanced Tools
Click Browser Hijack Settings Restore
Look here also.

You may also have success with System Restore.

Otherwise you may need to restore the MP3s from your back-ups.

Also remember this is a Beta.
You should NEVER use a Beta on a product ion system or any system with
important irreplaceable data.
You should also be willing to perform a Clean Installation to resolve issues
if necessary.

If you feel annoyed, don't be annoyed at Microsoft, be annoyed at the person
installing this Beta on the computer.

I tried System Restore as soon as I realized my mp3's
deleted and I chose a restore point where this program
wasn't even installed, but unfortunately system restore
couldn't save my mp3s. I tried your suggestions, but I
found no luck. Oh well, thanks anyway.

I am incredibly disturbed over the fact that this piece
of software doesn't know the difference between an mp3
and spyware. When I am using any form of antispyware
software, whether it be Adaware or Spybot, I trust those
programs to do their jobs and not cause pernicious harm
to my computer or anything that's on it. Unfortunately,
the geniuses at Microsoft or whoever made this program
for them broke that trust. You developers better put
some restoration features for deleted programs into the
final product. Adaware and Spybot both allow you to
restore files that have been deleted, so if there's a
problem it won't be of irrevocable of nature. It's truly
a disgrace for Microsoft to start charging people for
this hunk of junk. I wouldn't pay a fraction of a penny
for this garbage.

I'm certain MS AntiSpyware would NOT arbitrarily delete
MP3's out of the real "My Music" folder just for fun.
Many times third-party software creates it's own "Music"
folder. It may have been deleted out of a spyware program
folders, but surely you would have noticed at the end of
the scan, as it lists everything it finds in great
detail.
So, your music is somewhere that you don't even know. And
you run a beta software program on a computer that
has "critical" data. And you have not backed up your
data...ever. And you run a scan with the beta software,
and delete the results without looking to see that it's
your data. And for all of your foolishness your going to
turn around and blame the software distributor who's
trying to get thier beta tested. WOW!
Sure, I can see your point.

I once ran Spybot on a system and it removed a piece of spyware, good but
the computer that this spyware was installed on needed this spyware, it was
part of the original install. So I tried to recover and spybot failed I had
to use system restore. The point is that spybot recover function is not the
best so I would not rely on those functions try reading before you tell any
program to erase anything and always backup your data

This reply is probably a day late and a dollar short.
Anyway, here it is.

After my recent system crash I found this great FREE
program called "PC Inspector." It has a little bug, I
can't even remember what it is, but if I clicked on
certain things in a certain order it would stop responding
so I'd have to EndTask and rerun it. For a free recovery
program I really like it, and I was able to restore ALL of
my files.

Basic notes: try to not do much file writing to your lost
folder's disk, recover to another drive (save the files to
another drive). I keep my TEMP folder [reg hack] on its
own nothing temp logical drive - temp folder meaning:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
\Explorer\Shell Folders

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
\Explorer\User Shell Folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session
Manager\Environment

C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT (if you have one)

Find Internet Properties of Internet Explorer icon off
desktop or Options from browser window menu and change the
Temporary Internet Files settings.

Basically, anywhere my system is pointing to a temp folder
I've put it all under the same root\TEMP on a nothing
drive. The concept is if I loose files and I need the
system to recover (what else?), my surfing will not write
temp files to the disk I'm trying to recover.

Again, this note is probably late but it might help
someone later. Good luck.
