Why can't I get my .wma music files to play but the .wav ones wil.

I am creating a presentation with music and pictures. I cannot use my
windows media player files so I am saving them as .wav ones. I cannot get
the music to continue playing instead of restarting at the beginning. Any
suggestions for either of these problems?
