Inserting/Playing .wav media files

Hello, Really need some *guru* help... unable to successfully TS my
problem!!

Strange reaction of Ppt when trying to insert/play .wav sound/media files.
No problems w/basic small type sound files... all play Okay... browsing to
C:\Windows\Media folder.

This is the problem... .wav music files, this is a small music file and it
will not play in Ppt. It will **not play** using the MCI system player,
which means that it **will not play in Ppt.**!! I'm using WXP-SP2, I have
WMP-10 and the file **plays w/WMP-10**.

I have a variety of .wav files. The small music files is only where I have
the problem. I pulled several entire folders into WMP-10 and created a
playlist using all the files, they all play, this is not a codec problem!!
I have 6 .wav files that will not play on the system MCI player, error says,
"either file corrupted or I don't have the right handler*?? But, all six
play w/WMP-10.

One of these 6 files are needed to play in a Ppt presentation!! Pls. lead
me down the path to resolution, I am so tired of TS'ing this... thank you
