Why are attachments in outbound messages stripped or made .dat

Is this happening at the recipients' end? Are they using email clients other
than Outlook, and are you sending email in Rich text Format?

I don't know the answers to your question. My email is being sent in Rich
text, which I prefer but if it causing this problem I will switch to Plain.

That's usually the answer - only Outlook (not even Outlook Express) can read
RTF mail.
