I ASKED A QUESTION AND THIS WAS THE RIGHT ANSWER I THINK EXXCEPT HE NEVER
CAME BACK AND TOLD ME EXACTLY WHATY TO INSTALL TO GET RID OF THE OLD MOTINTOR
DRIVERS (DELL 27" LCD) and make way for the gateway 19" stuff so that i could
log in without always being in safe mode

When you boot into Safe Mode, you do not use your systems video adapter in
other than SVGA mode (basic Windows Video Driver).

I believe the same with your monitor. Do you have the old monitor still and
have you tried to hook it back up?
Have you tried to uninstall the Monitor under Control Panel | System |
Hardware | Device Manager (in Safe Mode), reboot and see if Windows tries to
detect the new hardware?

Did you get any software for your monitor that you needed to load ... and
if, so did you check if there where any updates on the Manufacturers
web-site (not Windows ... a lot of times there driver updates for hardware
manufacturers is out-of-date)?

Right click the Desktop, Properties, Settings tab, Advanced button, Monitor
tab, Properties, Driver tab,

Uninstall the driver or update the driver to a driver for a Plug and Play
monitor.

(snip)

1. Please don't shout. We can "hear" you just fine if you type in mixed
case.

2. You should have kept this in the original thread. No one knows what
you are talking about since you made a new thread.

3. You don't normally install monitor drivers. Normally you install
video drivers. If you changed the size of your monitor, you would not
need to install new video drivers unless the old drivers didn't support
the new monitor's size.

4. Since you are apparently going from a very large monitor to a smaller
monitor, all you should need to do is go to the Display applet in
Control Panel. Click on the Settings tab. Use the slider to move the
resolution to the new monitor's native resolution. Refer to the monitor
manual (or go to the mftr.'s website and look up the manual there) for
the native resolution. It is probably something like 1280 x 1024 but
you should check.

After you have used the slider to set the proper resolution, click Apply
and OK out.
