Which Nforce2 board with Sapphire Radeon 9600XT?

Hello,

I wonder if someone could recommend me an Nforce2 motherboard that
will work OK with my Sapphire Radeon 9600XT? I am finally giving up
on my current ASUS A7v8X as I can't get it to work stably (and nor can
anyone else from what I've read).

Many Thanks

James

Hi,

These are good boards from ABIT:

NF7
NF7-S
AN7

Hey James,
YOU TOO?!!
I just got my asus a7v8x 2 weeks ago, thinking I was making an upgrade!
Turns out, my sapphire 9800pro hates this thing, so I am now returning the
mobo and
I just bought an abit ns-7 from newegg.com.
It's supposed to be a very good board, no bells and whistles like firewire
or sata,
but I don't care about that, I just want to get my overpriced video card to
give me
pleasure.
Good Luck!
Paul

My A7N8X-E is working fine with a genuine ATI 9800 pro--don't see any reason
why it wouldn't work with a 9600XT.

Why not?

My Asus A7N8X-Deluxe has been fine. Are you using a decent power supply? The
problem may follow you even if you get the Abit NF7 motherboard if its PSU
related.

i use an abit NF-7 rev2 board with my sapphire 9600XT. Although this board
has an SATA RAID controller there are no SATA ports to plug into. V.strange.

Hi,
are you sure? there should be two little black sata plugs at the bottom of
the board. If it doesn't have these you must have the NF7 (not the NF7-S)

ASUS A7N8x Deluxe is very nice... very happy with mine... works fine
with either of my video cards. ATI or Nvidia.

Many Thanks to everyone who replied to my message, thought i'd just
post a follow up so anyone in a similar position can read how things
panned out in the end.

I went for an ABIT motherboard, the AN7 and it works fine with the
Sapphire 9600XT. The AN7 is more fussy about RAM quality than the
ASUS A7V8X though, probably the dual channel DDR controller or
something....

Hi,
I just set-up that same combo (AN7 + Sapphire 9600XT) works well, although I
did have some issues with a code *5b* halting the computer boot at the
coloured screen, also if you leave the graphics card looping for 24hours it
crashes?. I was using one single stick of Crucial PC3200. . . Does your AN7
put out 1.55v for the AGP (and reads 1.6v in BIOS health menu?)
