eerie,
Whether you know it now or not - you soon will... Your questions are a bit
less specific than perhaps you thought they were. ;-)
Temporary Internet Files location... The answer (or more precisely - how to
get the answer) depends on what version of Internet Explorer you have.
Internet Explorer 6: On the Internet Explorer 6 Tools menu, click Internet
Options. The Internet Options box should open to the General tab. In the
General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, click the Settings
button. This should bring up a window telling you the location of said
folder/files.
Internet Explorer 7: On the Internet Explorer 7 Tools menu (either of
them), click Internet Options. The Internet Options box should open to the
General tab. In the General tab, in the Browsing History section, click the
Settings button. This should bring up a window telling you the location of
said folder/files. In Internet Explorer 7 you can also - in that end
location - click on the View Files button and have it open the folder for
you.
** Temporary Internet Files is a *hidden* system folder.
*.dbx files location... Well, if you are speaking of a default installation
of Windows XP, the only thing I can think of that would have such files is
Outlook Express. I could be wrong - you will have to tell me. If that is
not the application you are circling around - I have no idea what you mean.
Windows XP, other than Outlook Express, has little to no use for the *.dbx
extension.
Assuming that is what you are speaking of... Click on the Start Button,
select RUN and type in:
"%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\"
*with the quotation marks, spaces and slashes. Click OK. You should see a
folder with a 'crazy' name... {FEEFAE86-A36A-4261-BE4B-AF2EB7DF3AE1} or
something like it. Open it. Then continue opining the folders... Microsoft
and Outlook Express. There you go. The default location of your Outlook
Express *.dbx files. *Your* being key- as each user has this folder (or one
like it) in their own profile.
That is the default... Nothing has to stay default, pretty much. If you
want to know for sure where *your* defautl Outlook Express storage folder
is... Open Outlook Express, from the Tools menu, choose Options. Look
under the Maintenance tab. Click on the Store Folder button. That will
tell you the path for your storage folder - or where your *.dbx files (only
ones that Windows XP might have by default that i know about) is.
The local settings folder location... ironically I answered this along the
way to this question.
Click on the Start Button, select RUN and type in:
"%userprofile%\Local Settings\"
*with the quotation marks, spaces and slashes. Click OK. You are in your
user account's local settings folder. *Your* being key- as each user has
this folder (or one like it) in their own profile.
Hope that helps and is what you are looking for. If not - come back and be
a bit more specific with your query - clarify a bit. In fact - either way -
come back - let everyone know if that was or was not what you were looking
for and what - if anything - you plan on doing with that information...
In other words - what is the curiosity surrounding those particular items?
Better to find out now if you should be doing whatever you plan on doing or
if there is a better way... *grin*
Pretty much all of this could have been found using an Internet Search
Engine. ;-)
Now is a great time to point you to one of the easiest ways to find
