Where do Permanently Deleted Items Go?

I was deleting messages in my "deleted items" bin and hit the "permanently
delete" button at the same time I realized I hadn't read a message. The
messages are not in my recycle bin on my desktop, so where did they go?

They go into limbo... To summon the spirits of these "permanently" deleted
items:

- Click on your Deleted Items folder
- Click on Tools -> Recover Deleted Items

There you should find your message and be able to restore it. Please note
that in an Exchange Server environment it may not be possible to do this
depending on the deleted item retention setting on the server.
