When Vista Sucks - The answer is NOT Windows Server

When someone says Vista sucks and wants to know how to fix it, the answer
isn't to install Windows Server 2008 Beta, or Windows Server 2008 RTM (when
it ships) because when most people have issues with Vista, they are not
experts and don't know the first thing about configuring the Server product
to act like a desktop version.

Here is a link on how to make it close to a desktop solution, but there is
alot of work and I'll bet that 95% or more of the people coming here for
help either can't make the changes, are afraid of making the changes, but
just want their Vista to work or maybe revert back to XP

Just FYI :)

yes.. I did that too.. but its not very easy to convert it to a desktop to
function like vista
as much as possible...

I believe a newbie cant do it without very good instructions and a will to
take chances

But I have to add that server 2008 was faster than vista...

and although it is beta MS is using it for their microsoft.com site!

The point about Windows Server 2008 versus any of the Vista flavors is
that Server is currently much more stable and is generally much easier
to use for typical business applications. I haven't tried Server for
games, but multimedia and applications such as Mappoint,
NaturallySpeaking, Office, Quickbooks and Visual Studio - to name a few
- are certainly easy to install and to use.
Server is generally a much cleaner operating system and for this reason
is more user friendly. I find that it is a pleasure to use whereas Vista
seems to be an endless series of incredibly poorly designed user
interfaces and operational harassments.
