When using Outlook, my gif pictures will only allow me to save as.

When I receive a gif picture in Outlook email and try to save it, Outlook
does not allow me to save it as a gif, only a bitmap which would make my gif
file useless. I have deleted my temp files and my temporary internet files.
Still I can only save jpgs & gifs as bitmaps. Any advice would be greatly
appreciated.
