What is the best sequence to update XP

My machine originally came with XP Home. I have XP Pro Update also. I don't
remember whether I updated to pro before applying SP2. Now I am doing a
system restore on my machine. Whic one is best, applying SP2 before running
the XP Pro Update or vice versa?

1st if you have the XP home CD you can install XP Pro directly without
installing Home first. When it asks for a previous version to upgrade from
remove the Pro CD and insert the Home CD. It will read the Home CD and away
you go.
Once you have Pro Installed then upgrade to Pro SP2...download it from the
net site and install.
Don't forget to install Anti virus before you connect to the net

Since your question isn't applicable if you do a System Restore, my
guess is that you don't mean "System Restore." Is what you mean that
you are planning to reinstall Windows using your OEM's restoration CD?

If that's what you mean, it shouldn't matter which you do first.

You got me right. Yes I will be restoring the XP Home using manufacturer's
restore CD.

I had a hunch, but wanted to rule out if any "ifs and buts" exist.
