what is NvCpl startup item?

I could use some help or a suggestion as to where to find
help or a troubleshooter for

startup item:
NvCpl

command:
RUNDLL32.EXE C\WINDOWS\System32
\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup

location:
SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

The short burst of music played by Windows XP when a user
logs on stutters (skips, gets stuck, stammers etc....),
and the display blinks to black twice (every time twice)
just for a second or two. Still trying Dell support.
Tried uninstall and reinstall of Norton AntiVirus (per
Dell suggestion). Also tried Repair Reinstall of Windows
XP. I recently uninstalled AOL (not sure if this could
have anything to do with problem). I identified NvCpl as
having something to do with problem by running Startup
and Shutdown Troubleshooter. When NvCpl is not checked
under startup tab in msconfig in selective startup
problem does not occur. I think NvCpl has something to do
with Nvidia but don't know what to try. Thanks.

Yes it does have to do with nVidia. Download and reinstall the drivers for
your video card from nVidia.

A Google search suggests it's an nVidia component, so updating/reinstalling
your video drivers may be a good place to start. Assuming you are using an
nVidia graphic card that is...
