Task Manager / Rundll

hi all ... i have no rundll errors occurring at all but i noticed that
rundll32.exe is always running in my task manager and it says the user is me.
I understand that rundll doesnt exist in Win XP but i was wondering is the
rundll32 always loading in my task manger related to the Nvida
detenator/forceware software that am using for my graphic card? I say so
cause the driver is designed for Win98, win2k and win XP as well? I did a
clean XP boot on my system and turns out that rundll has nothing to do with
the services, win.ini, system.ini , its on the startup programs tab in
msconfig and actually its got 2 enteries there :

Startup Item: NvCpl
Command: RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Windows\System32\NvCPL.dll,NvStartup
Location: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and the 2nd entry is :

Startup Item: RUNDLL32
Command: RUNDLL32.exe NvMCTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit.dll
Location: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I checked the file nvcpl.dll in my system32 folder and i think its a part of
the nvida driver.

Am asking cause thisrundll thing is always present in my task manager and i
had my pc scanned with norton 2003 pro and came up clean and then installed
spybot and spyware blaster and ran a scan and nothing came up. I went for an
online scan at trend micro and found a couple of trojans that norton didnt
find so i cleaned them up and uninstalled norton and installed BitDefender
and ran scans too and found a couple of trojans again. I also downloaded &
installed The Cleaner from MOO Soft and found a trojan or two. But now the
system is clean am sure and the rundll is still in my task manager.

Thanx for ur time & please advise.

Hi,

Rundll32 runs library (dll) files and can be called from a variety of
programs. Nvidia's software may be just one of the possible causes.

The Rundll32.exe file is a legitimate Windows XP file. You only need to use
the search file function to determine this.

RUNDLL32 is an application that acts as a general purpose host for a Dynamic
Link Library (DLL). Several IE related applications use RUNDLL32. As you
have determined, it is also used by the Nvidia applications to run the
notification area applets.
