I used to use Briefcase when I was studying at university, before I set up
an FTP server to use instead.
It's awful. I found it easy to overwrite and lose important work files
under stressful deadline situations. I can't remember the reasons why I
lost work (it happened more than once) but I think at least one time it was
due to the incorrect time on the CAD workstation I was using. I stopped
using Briefcase after I missed a presentation due to using it.
Synctoy gives you a lot more control of what is going on, and I would say
that it is the more reliable and flexible alternative:
