What is DOT4_001?

I installed a Laserjet 1012 on to a P4/XP. The 1012 is a USB printer and I
was expecting that it would be installed onto a USB port. Instead it was
installed onto DOT4_001. The 1012 prints OK from the P4/XP. Also I am having
problems printing to this printer from other PCs on my home network. My
other two printers on the P4/XP (one on a USB port and one on LPT1) work as
expected.

What is DOT4_001? Should I uninstall the Laserjet and try a reinstall?
