what is a mixer hardware because my speaker for some reason needs

my speakers dont work and when i try playing a file it says install mixer
device and could someone please tell me what that is. and when i go onto
volume control it says i have no speakers and ive even checked to see if it
was in and im pritty sure there not worn out speakers but still no sound
please could someone help me

Unistall all software relative to your sound card then re-boot and
re-install. Did that work ?

If you select speakers when in volume control does that work ?
