what if you dont av'e a phone to activate vista, av'e posted this message
before,MS cannot expect people to go to the payphone to reactivate they copy
of vista, It should state on the box that an internet connection is needed,
OR IT DOES but you need glassers to see the small print. they must be another
way,I never had this problem with windows xp activation even if i changed
hardware.
I Think ms should change the way activation works on vista sometimes my
telephone goes of line, then what do i do if vista has to call home again.

I guess they're making the stupid assumption that someone who has a computer
owns a phone or at least has a tech-savvy friend he can borrow a cellphone
from.

first option is to activate on line .
if it fails then you are provided with options to do otherwise.

Like DP wrote, it makes the quite realistic assumption that most folks have
access to a telephone.

If you truly don't have access to a telephone, maybe you should think about
what you would do in a medical emergency rather than activating your
computer.

Buy a cheap mobile on a pay as you go tarrif & stop being so obsessed with
this ridiculous scenario.

AFAIK, those are the only two option - online or phone.

They assume you have a phone. If online doesn't work, then you would have to
borrow a phone from someone. I don't have a land line, but wireless internet
and a cell phone.

It is a good question, though. some people use Skype for their phone
service, and a lot of times, it uses your PC. I know there are phones that
don't require it...

I could care less if I had a phone. I don't use them that often, and am
looking into Skype's phones that don't require the PC.

It does. Quite clearly.

Hi Bruce, I had to look twice to find the (activation by phone or internet is
required) its very small,if somebody went to buy any version of vista all
they see is the box that is green and says windows vista they wont bother
looking at the small print. like i said in the other posts i do like vista
alot its just the activation that gets on my nerves, activating every few days
when i av'e to install vista again & again,or when i install new hardware its
getting out of control this WGA, I install new hardware alot and to
reactivate every time i put new hardware in my pc is an pain in the neck

Thanks for your reply Bruce:)

I think by 3026 the ink whould have faded on the product key, so
being determined they would have installed it using the keyless
option and therefore would have had a fully functional 30 day
trial.

and being the only computer they probably wouldn't have minded
doing a clean install every month :)

in the story, the windows computer was preloaded with the OS...

no media (windows dvd) in sight... they probably wouldnt even know what to
do with it...

Well at least they learned a valuable lesson during their first IT project,
don't do your first demo on stage in front of 5000 people without
at least first doing some testing first.

Even Bill has learned that one :)

Yeah.. are you referring to the video of the blue screen in the presentation
of win98?
