first i would go with a SATA hard drive i think they cost slightly more but they are alot better than IDE, im not familiar with those PSU's KGB had a jeantech one so maybe he can tell us what it was like, if you really want a decent one then Tagan, Antec and Enermax are the ones to go for, i'd go with Tagan as they are cheaper than antec and enermax

TG480-U01 (third down)

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Tagan.html

maxtor SATA HD 2nd down or 3rd one whatever you can afford

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Maxtor2.html

those two will be about £115

if you have an old hard drive in good condition then use that, you dont need to buy a new one it just makes things easier

well i suppose it is in good condition! lol its around 3 years old... i could do without losing the money...

but not really looked into hardrives so i dont know how big a role they play lol...

on task manager when it says CPU usuage? well is that dependant on how big your HD is?? does it make a computer any quicker :s

or would you suggest just to buy a new one?

If you are going in for a new hard drive make sure it's either a Seagate or a Samsung they both offer 3 year warrantys on there drives, other manufacturers only offer a year at most....

Personally I would buy a small SATA drive to put XP, drivers etc on- and if possible use your old drive to store documents etc. I understand you can buy these SATA drives for less than £50 these days. I would never buy Jeantech- they are the only PSU of choice from PC World. As we all know these are usually big out of town warehouses who specialise in employing 17yr gimps who in turn think they know what they are talking about. TAGAN is the one to go for. Get a cheap reliable SATA drive and put the change into getting the best TAGAN you can buy. I speak from experience with my old AThlon thunderbird- turns the PSU was pants and couldnt handle counterstrike at full tilt.

Just checked the above TAGAN 480 PSU- def worth it and Dabs are doing a SEAGATE 40Gb SATA for £40 -quicklink ref 3K5RWS - with 8mb Cache. WIll keep you going until you can afford a bigger hard drive

Check it out you will be fool not too!

you should be able to post pics, host it at http://www.imageshack.us/and post the link, if the number of MB's you've posted is right you have roughly a 40GB HD, so get either another 40 or a 60 and use the one you have so you have two drives

the PSU is one thing that you shouldn't try and save money on, get the Tagan it will not give you any trouble and will provide your system with stable power

A 600W PSU for 25 quid has gotta be rubbish, like Q-Tec.

Jeantech are actually good PSU's. I've put them in systems and I have a 350W version here that's been running 24/7 for over two years now.

Yes, they are sold by PC World, but for once they seem to have it right.

Some time back, reefsmoka posted a link to a list of good and bad PSU's. Jeantech was up there with the good ones.

I favour Tagan myself, but credit where credit's due, the Jeantech's are actually quite OK, especially for the money.

And if you need a hard drive, go SATA. Any name make is OK, it's a lottery whether you get a bad one or not with all of them. I like Western Digital and Seagate myself, but I ain't really sure why, lol. And the only make of hard drive that's never died on me is Maxtor, oddly enough.

That looks like a goodie, G-Man, you not going SATA then?

Only you know what size you need, 160Gb or 200Gb seems fine to me, depends how many mp3's, photos and what-have-you you want to store.
