what did Microsft do with the "PC Relocator" program from Alohabob ???

MSFT bought the company but never re-released this great program for
copying programs
from an old PC to a new one.

i am buying a new windows 7 PC and would like a good way to copy
applications.

PC relocator would actually copy the registry keys from PC to new PC.

better than reinstalling program after program.

Not really better. Too likely - especially with such a drastic change as
Windows 7 (and 32/64 bit difference) is in terms of organization - to mess
up/miss things. I'd say you end up with a better end-result with a clean
install of everything. That way you don't bring over old trash.
Clean-sweeps just work better in the majority of cases.

In any case - if you don't see it or its equivalent by now from Microsoft -
I wouldn't "expect it".

If you insist on doing it...

Maybe...

I would not agree that it will be better, since there's no guarantee that
the registry keys go where they should go or are the correct values for hte
new OS. Or that all the entries for a given program are actually detected.

It's going to be a much better idea to just do a new install of the
applications. Just get the installers together, get a movie, and pay
attention to the PC when it needs a click or disk change.
