What device causes "Device Failed to Connect" Sound

My XP Pro system started (don't think I added anything) frequently sounding
the sounds, "Device Failed to Connect" followed by a "Device Disconnect". I
don't see any problems in the Event Viewer.. How can I track down the
culprit?

Yes, and last night I started unplugging them. I think I found the one
that had a problem. But I would have expected a log somewhere that I
could find more about 'errors'.
