Hi,

I tried installing windows vista in a system having sis650 integrated
graphics card . the installation went fine without a glitch. But when it
restarted i see the vista animated gui and after that the screen goes
black.

In safe mode i found that the driver installed for my sis 650 graphics
card was sis650 xddm driver from microsoft. it seems to be that vista
detecting the sis650 graphics care properly and installing the
compatible driver. the xddm drive is not working for me. the screen
always goes black. I updated the driver with my old win xp driver. then
vista starts fine.

I would like to know whether xddm drivers are better than normal
graphics driver. will it support Windows Aero?

Thank YOu

Windows AERO Glass requires that you have a minimum of 64 MBs video RAM that
is Direct X 9 compliant and supports the Windows Display Driver Model
(WDDM), formerly (LDDM). If your video card does not meet these
requirements, its the likely cause why you are not seeing it. For
onboard/integrated cards, you need to have 1 GB of dual channel memory
installed with 512 MBs of RAM allocated to the system.
