Quake 2 and missing crosshairs

I installed VISTA HOME Premium and then Quake 2. Now I don't have crosshairs
in Quake 2 and I have tried all three options for different types of
crosshairs. The red angle crosshair shows a very small, many 1 pixel, red
dot. I don't know if it's a video driver and/or Directx issue. I am running
on a Dell 6000 with 2gb and with the Intel internal video card (915/910 chip
set) My screen resolution is 1680x1050. Changing screen resolution in VISAT
and Quake 2 didn't make any difference. The video drivers are the XDDM
modules. Any ideas?

Paul,

I have tried both software and OpenGL. With the software, the graphics are
horrible but the crosshair is back. With OpenGL, the graphics are excellent
(like on XP) but the crosshair disappeared.

Paul,

Nothing is available at the Dell support site. I can't even seem to report
the issue since my hardware is off warranty. I agree with on Intel and
Dell's priority to develop a fix for the issue with the internal Intel
910/915 chipset. If you can't report it, how do you get it fixed?
