Went from Express to Outlook as mail client

I switched from using Outlook Express to Outlook. I was able to move all my
files and folders over and copy my settings. I made Outlook my default mail
client however, Express is still sometimes receiving mail. I checked to make
sure Outlook is the default under Internet Options, Mail and it is. I also
checked in Express and it is not listed as the default mail client. I
figured I can remove the settings from Express so it doesn't receive mail but
will that mean that the mail that's going there will automatically start
going to Outlook?

The only reason Outlook Express is getting your mail is that you continue to
use it or you still reference your mail account in it. Either stop using
Outlook Express or remove the mail account.

Alternatively, you can set the mail account to leave copies of messages on
the server so that when Outlook checks, they're still there.
