I have had this problem for a while; when i turn on my computer it uses the
classic logon screen where i have to input my user name and pass word. I had
the welcome screen before where all I had to do was click on an account and
input my password. I read all the disccusions where users had simillar
problems yet when i got user control pannel my "use welcome screen" and "fast
switching" is checked on yet the welcome screen still doen not work.

Can some one help me out as to what more I have to do get my welcome screen
back.

Im running Windows XP SP2.

Edouard,

Are you using XP Pro and joined to a domain? If so, joining a domain
requires the classic logon. Otherwise try this fix from Doug Knox.
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/XP_FixLogon.zip
Usage: Download XP_FixLogon.ZIP and save this file to your hard drive.
Navigate to where you saved it and double click the file. Extract
XP_FixLogon.exe from the zip file and double click it. The program will
tell you if repairs are needed or not.

This utility checks for the correct GINA value in the Registry and will
allow you to restore it, if its incorrect.

I have the same problem with no welcome screen. I have read every post on
here, and have confirmed the correct GINA. I have had no luck returning my
welcome screen. I've checked the registry, tried every utility on the web,
still no welcome screen. All I get is "this computer has been locked... only
" user" can unlock it" I need my welcome screen back... please someone
