weird page loads

when I click on the "e" to sign on to the internet - my
modem does it's thing and one of the following things
happens most (not all) of the time:

1) my home page loads??? but what I see is a blank white
page with the following in the upper left hand corner of
the screen (under the toolbars) "M'/here" (without
quotes). The address bar says "http://wwww.my.msn.com/"

I can get to my home page by going into my Favorites,
going to MSN.com and clicking on "my MSN"

or

2) The sign in page loads, I sign in and I get the white
page with the weird "M" thing.

I can get to my home page by doing what I describe above.

What in the heck is the M'/here thing?

I have downloaded all kinds of adware and spyware
software and used it and I still get this weird home page.

Really confused!

Try this: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced > Browsing
Uncheck the Enable 3rd party browser extensions

If this clears your problem then find out who the culprit(s) is/are with
these tools.

Let AD-Aware Scan your system for advertising Spyware
http://www.lavasoftusa.com

and:

SpyBot-S&D
http://security.kolla.de/

p.s Reset the 3rd party browser setting.

More: This may be caused by a third-party program (adware, spyware,
parasite).
Get AdAware and SpyBot and run them both. Keep them up to date.

If I understand you correctly - I should run Adware (??
and delete all of the little thingy's that it finds) -
Done!

Then I should run Spy Bot - let it find and
fix "something" - Done!

Reset my 3rd party browser settings and re-boot - Done!

Problem solved - Not!

I still get the darn, stupid, weird "home" page. Now
what??

Go to: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware]

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates: "hijackthis.log")

Next, go to the below location:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, go to the "Spyware and Hijackware Removal" section.
Press "New Topic", copy and paste hijackthis.log into your new message.
