weird Hard Disk problem with WinXP

Hi,
I'm using WinXP Pro SP1. My hard disk partition is 6GB
and WinXP showed that only 1.7GB is free now. I thought
WinXP occupied 4.3GB of disk space, but now when I
totalled the sum of folder sizes in my drive it is only
1.8GB. But still winXP says occupied disk space=4.3GB!!!
Does anyone know what the problem is? and how to solve it
Rajiv

Some of the varied explanations I have read include:

-Hidden Files
-Hibernation File
-Temporary files
-The method of space allocation: Fat32 wastes space because of the large
size of the "allocation slots" it uses for data, and each slot can only hold
one file or part of a file.

Your situation is not unusual. It is generally agreed that smaller hard
drives make using XP a real challenge.
