WebDAV and Windows Vista

This is a pretty simple question for anyone, as long as they actually know
the answer: Will WebDAV work in Windows Vista? It was functional in beta 2,
but in RC1 build 5600 all of the wevDAV servers I've tried to upload to (both
through windows explorer, mapping a network drive, through dreamweaver,
through IE7, etc) have denied me access or simply not worked at all. I work
for a university whose new course management system relies pretty heavily on
webDAV for resource and file uploads and site management, so this is pretty
important.

Yes- WebDAV will work on Windows Vista. We are not aware of any issues in
Windows Vista RC1 build 5600 that would cause WebDAV to stop functioning and
not work as expected. Functionality-wise, RC1 build should be as good as
Beta2 build if not better.

You mentioned that you are not able to access your WebDAV resources even
with Internet Explorer. This leads me to believe that you have some network
(perhaps proxy) issue. I can help narrow down your problem if you can let me
know what errors you are getting and perhaps get me network traces of your
problem.

Thanks.

Hi,
I'm having a similar issue. I just installed Windows Vista RC2. Here's what
I did:
- Under Windows Explorer, I right-click on Computer, and then select 'Add a
Network Location'.
- I click next, and select 'Choose a custom network location', and click
'Next'
- In the 'Specify the location of your website' window, I specify an
appropriate website for a web folder, and click Next
- the following error appears: 'The folder you entered does not appear to be
valid. Please choose another.'
What i also noticed is that there is no place for me to specify my
credentials to my web folder.

Please advise.

Hi- there was a problem with "Add a Network Location" wizard in RC2 that has
been fixed now (final release will have the fix). In the meanwhile, the
workaround is to do a "net use * <http_location>" from command line
(cmd.exe). Let me know if you need any help with this.

thanks.
