Webcam movie capture

I have a Genius videocam live. Using VideoImpression 1.6 that cam
bundled with my webcam, I am able to capture live footage from my
webcam. The problem is that the playback isn't smooth - it plays fast,
stops for a bit, plays fast, stops for a bit, and so on.

Any software or settings that overcomes this problem?

Actually, I just downloaded Bulent's screen recorder from

The idea is that you can use a program to display your webcam (e.g.
VideoImpression, or whatever), and capture the window, and save it to an
avi file.
