Web site windows open minimized instead of maximized

I'm a very experienced PC user who has just upgraded from Windows 2000 to
Windows XP. When I click on certain icons on my desktop or Quick Launch
taskbar, they open 3/4 screen-sized instead of maximized. These icons are
all internet-related -- Internet Explorer 7.0, Google, eBay, for example.
I'd like all my icons to open maximized -- can you help? Thanks, Chandolin

Internet Explorer remembers the last window that was opened and will open
that same way the next time that it's opened.

This will have to be redone occasionally.

Open *one* instance of IE | Use the cursor (not the
maximize button) to drag the window to the desired
size | Click the Close [X] while holding down the
Ctrl key.
-----

Close all instances of Internet Explorer.

Paste the following line into Start | Run and click OK...

javascript:window.open(screen.availWidth,screen.availHeight)

Then use your cursor (not the maximize button) to drag each window to full
screen and left click the Close [X] while holding down the Ctrl key.

"very experienced"??

Right-click the shortcut, select Properties, change "Run" to open
maximized.

That's a pretty snotty answer! I've been working with PCs since 1983.

And my Properties doesn't have a Run option.

Create a few shortcuts to your browser on your Desktop, or Quick Launch
bar, then edit the shortcuts.

1. Change the "Target:" to:

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" http://lpga.com

(as an example site.)

2. After adding the internet address, change the "Run:" pane to "Maximized".

That will make those shortcuts open IE maximized. You'll still have to
use the other ideas suggested in this thread to get links in emails, and
links on web sites to open new windows nearly maximized.

Hope this helps,

I had the same problem and nothing I did would fix it until I uninstalled
and reinstalled IE7. All you have to do is go to Add/Remove programs and
remove IE7. IE6 will automatically "install." Then reinstall IE7 either by
going to the MS web site or just run Windows update. It only take a few
minutes and my problem went away.

Hide the IE shortcut by :
Display Properties | Customize button | Untick "Internet explorer"
Click OK= OK

Then create a new shortcut to Internet Explorer and set "Run:" to maximized.

Good Luck, Ayush.
