Web publishing problem, FP2002

My very poor web host (ipowerweb) has had problems with file corruption and
FrontPage Server Extension corruption repeatedly which manifests itself in my
attempting to publish and getting an error not letting me publish, which then
generates a long fight with ipowerweb's utterly incompetent tech support
after which they reinstall the extensions and then I wind up still not being
able to publish. I need some help!

When I open my web and click on publish, a box pops up - Publish Destination
- which defaults to FTP even though it should be HTTP. When I type in my
web's http:// location, and click OK, I get a very long error message -

"Unable to open http://XXXXX.com. Possible causes:
1. The Web Server may not have the Front Page extensions installed.
2. The Web server may be temporarily out of service.
3. If you are connecting through a proxy server, the proxy settings may be
incorrect.
4. An error may have occurred in the web server.
If the web server does not support FrontPage extensions, FrontPage may still
be able to publish to the server via FTP."

My idiotic support folk at ipowerweb are unable to assist further. Can
someone PLEASE (utter desperation here) tell me what is wrong and what I need
to check/do? I have no router, am directly connected to a cable modem, have a
wonderful upload connection and speed, have not had this much trouble before
and am ready to chant death wishes on these idiots... your input VERY MUCH
appreciated.

Since this on the server end, there is nothing that you can do, except switch web host.

Sounds like its time for a new host.
Sounds like the extensions are wacked.
Whats the URL...lets see if you even have extensions installed.

Facing the same thing, so wondering: can you create a "new network place" for
your http: location? I cannot, even though the site it there.

To further complicate the whole mess, I can connect to some sites and cannot
connect to other sites on the SAME web host!
