Web pages not displaying properly

I am using Windows XP, IE 6. When I open some web pages the pictures aren't
showing and the words are all garbled up. They are running together and some
of the words are printed over top of the pictures that do show up. I have
tried several fixes from troubleshooting on Microsoft but nothing has worked.
HELP!!!

Thanks in advance

I know that overlapping words and graphics sometimes appear because the
browser is set to a larger font than the web designer has left room for, so
the text and graphics overlap. You might try reducing your font size in IE
(Menu: View --> Text Size).

I'm having a similar problem to jojo1, in that many ads and pictures on
webpages (especially on Yahoo's network of pages) don't show, and many have
"Page cannot be displayed" in their place. Most of the time they're just
invisible.

I had been running a utility program called AdsGone, which suppresses
popups, animation and Flash. Most of the time it works very well. But I was
having problems seeing non-advertising pictures on Yahoo. I wound up
uninstalling it to see if that would help, and that seemed to make it even
worse, now that I'm getting these "cannot be displayed" messages in the place
of ads, and still blank space where "legitimate" pictures should be.

It might be related to jojo's problem, so I thought I'd mention it here. I
hope someone can shed some light on this. It's driving me nuts! I started to
use Firefox instead but it's so slow I that I want to try IE again. I'm using
IE6. I installed the latest SP2 upgrade today, with no change. I'm running
Win-XP-pro SP2.

Thanks very much to anyone who can help with this.

Has anybody figured this out. It's the same post I had but the text size is
not the problem. I have even done a system restore without any luck. I have
tried at least 15 different things with no luck. I'm still having the same
problem so any help will be greately appreciated.

Cindy, have you asked friends on other computers to view sites that are
messed up on yours? I'm just wondering if it's something in your settings.
And if someone else is able to view the site without problems, you could try
to compare your settings to theirs and tinker with yours until you're able to
duplicate the result. But I'd suggest you try this only if you know what
you're doing. Or ask someone to help you with it who knows what they're
doing.

Jo - I have viewed the web pages on my computer at work and they are fine. I
have reset everything to default and also tried it using foxfire browser
instead of internet explorer and it does it using foxfire too. I've tried
everything but nothing seems to work. I have even tried the same settings
that my computer at work has and it didn't help either.

Hi, has there been any advance on this?? It's good to know we're not alone.
I'm using a widescreen laptop and have suffered the problem for ages. I got
one suggestion from the laptop supplier - possibly spyware, but I've got
Norton operating so it doesn't seem likely.
