Web links to PPT 2007 fail

When linking to a PowerPoint 2007 file on a web page (e.g. Filename), I receive a Page Not Found
error when clicking on the link.

I've verified this in Firefox 3.5 and Internet Explorer 8 on multiple
machines, as well as Firefox 3 on Ubuntu.

Links to PowerPoint 2003 files work just fine, and renaming the 2007 files
to have a PPT extension also works, but why not PPTX files?

This is very likely to be a server issue. I know that we had some problems
linking to various types of files on our server. I had to tell the server
guys who enabled access to those file types. I think this might have been
the case for .pptx files when that format was first released.
