Weather Gadget

I would like to ask MICROSOFT if they are intending on fixing the Weather
Gadget. Since now everyone knows that after changing the system locale to
other than US-English the gadget stops working. What are we mortals from non
english spoken regions and locales supposed to do when for example watching
movies with subtitles in Hindu? May be it is time for MICROSOFT to post a fix
for this or just make it clear for the non english users that this gadget was
not intended for them.

The weather gadget works just fine here, on both a dutch version of
Vista and an english version with a dutch language pack.

It seems like you know little about this matter. It is not about the
installed languages or keybard languages. It is about the language for the
non-Unicode programs. These programs need this specific setting to be set to
the current country you are. This is necessary to display the appropriate
language correctly within the program itself.

I do agree with mamamegs.
The weather gadget is working like a charm here.

I live in France, and my local settings are Dutch.

My OS and my programs are a mixture of English, Dutch and French.
And everything is working perfectly.

I do not understand what your problem is, but maybe I know as little about
the matter as mamamegs :)

If you set a location (eg the UK) the format has to match (eg English
(United Kingdom)) and then the gadget works. If they don't you'll get
the 'Service unavailable' error.

I appologise for my behaviour. I am just very frustrated. If I set the
locale to US English the gadget works. When I set it to Bulgaria the gadget
stops working and displays SERVICE NOT AVAILABLE FOR YOUR REGION. Once I
switch back to US everything is fine. May be it is related to the alphabet.
The languages you both described are all LATIN. The one I am using is
CYRILLIC. I need this setting set to Bulgarian because without it I cannot
witch DivX movies with subtitles. Instead of cyrillic letters I see
mumbo-jumbo letters.

Try setting the format to 'Bulgarian (Bulgaria)'.

I have set the Tabs FORMAT and LOCATION to Bulgaria. These two make no
difference to the gadget. But once I change in Tab Administrative the
LANGUAGE FOR NON-UNICODE PROGRAMS from UK/US to Bulgarian the gadget stops
working. And exactly this setting is neccesery for my to run programs with
bulgarian letters. So it is out of the question not to set this to Bulgaria.
