Windowe did not start successfully.

Safe mode
Safe mode with networking
Safe mode with command prompt
Last known good configuration
Start windows normally

None of these work. XP tries to start, goes to a blue
screen for half a second and goes back to "We apologize"

What is a girl to do?

Find out why, would be my guess.

Have you gotten any resolution? Same thing happened Saturday morning. Doesn't look like anybody has gotten a fix thru this forum.

Depends. What *did* a girl do before this occurred?
When was the last time it worked?
Did anything change between the last time ti booted successfully and this
time - even just moving the computer?
Details are needed.

did you install the latest 5 updates? then you are screwed
thanks to microsoft and their updates that are screwing up
lots of computers. wait for word on a patch or you might
have to reinstall. or when starting tap the f1 key
repaeatedly to get into the bios to see if boot order or
function has changed. or tap f8 repeatedly when starting to
try to get to safe mode.

You can try a repair install of XP if you have a retail version or OEM
version CD. If your machine came with a restore type CD, you may or
may not be able to do a repair. Be sure to consult your computer
manual first. Go to the following web site and follow the procedure
to do a repair install:

If it were me, and it has been, I'd haul it into the shop. If XP won't
let you boot into safe mode to try to save your data, then the pros are
only ones who can. If there's nothing on your computer that you want
rescued, then try re-installing. Even so, it could be a hardware
problem that requires repair. If this is the case, heat and power
supply are the most likely suspects, followed by hardrive, RAM,
motherboard, etc.
