I can't figure it out - I have two pc's on a home network - been through the
same previous procedures with WD. This time ONE updated properly
automatically - the other I had to use the copy and paste procedure to
uninstall, then it updated properly too. Curious! Anyway, both are updated
now. A great improvement from the "loop".

We also had a message some while back about fixes having been made with
regards to update problems. I don't know whether those fixes are at the
client end, but if they are, we haven't seen the code yet. So--it looks to
me as though there are several sets of significant fixes that are in the
pipeline.

Well I had considerable troubles updating this time. I tried Microsoft
updates, claimed it was successful (but wasn't, as event log showed). Did
910515 fix, tried manual check for updates, again claimed success but
actually failed; did Window installer clean up tried again, no luck, this
time it said it was up to date, whereas it plainly was not. Did Windows
installer cleanup again, cleared TIFs etc. rebooted. Got a message in systray
that WD had not been updated for xx days and it showed the one before last
definitions number ( I must have removed the previous definitions as well).
Then clicked update now in the message and finally, successful update to
1.14.1350.6. What a palaver.

Yuck. About all I can say is that I hope that they are holding off on
issueing updated code in order to get as much in as possible--to meet a real
quality bar in relation to the issues we are seeing. I've a suspicion that
we are about to get a large influx of new users, courtesy of a tie-in to
another Microsoft app in public beta.

Can you download updates from Windowsupdate.com? Do those install correctly?
