WD did not uninstall Microsoft Antispyware

When I was loading WD it indicated it would uninstall Microsoft Antispyware.
It apparently removed a file because the uninstall program that came with
antispyware says it only works with installed programs. Antispyware is still
on my pc and works. I tried using the uninstall program in the control panel
but it fails to identify MA. Help!!!!

I wish I could answer the question, but all I can do is add my own question
to yours. Like Rosewood,I expected to find all traces of MSA removed when I
installed Defender, but there's still a 1MB folder in Program files with a
heap of stuff in it. Should I delete it, or leave it alone?

You can remove that folder if you don't expect to need anything from
quarantine under the old program.

Hello Rosewood,

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893803

Note, uncheck Yahoos toolbar during install.

Open Ccleaner and start the cleaning, press "Windows" "Aplications" and "Run
Cleaner" from the menu choose 'Issues' and then press scan for issues, Repair
any fºund.

D/L and install Beta 1
From http://www.filehippo.com Beta 1
http://www.filehippo.com/download/88f7471049179318fa98d78e1df25a33/download/

Is pretty risky getting a Microsoft file except directly from the
source--but in an emergency....

REMOVING BETA 1
Whatever you do, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a
administrator.

This needs to be run in safe mode.

Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and
click Change. Click Next, and then click Remove.

In Windows Programs files, delete all the sub-directorys and the folder MSAS.

Delete in Windows\system 32 :
GcColetion.dll
Hashlib.dll
GcUnCompress.dll
GcTypLibA.tbl
GcAntiSpywareLib.dll
GcUserData.gcg

In Windows\Downloaded Installations, any reference about MSAS.

You can use Ccleaner
Run the above remover in safe mode Ccleaner on all 3 settings(windows, apps &
issues) and clear anything found reboot and see if it still exists.

Done.

WINDOWS DEFENDER BETA 2.
I'd recommend re-downloading, and saving to a known location--like the
desktop.

After the download is complete, disable real-time protection by your
antivirus for long enough to do the installation. This may be worth trying in
your case.

I hope this post is helpful, let us know how it works ºut.
