Hi,

I am struggling with the above E.M. I have tried the offical resolution
(Msiexec...). But it's still not picking up the definitions.

I do have Norton running?

We are also on a small network, however, the other computers have had no
problems downloading.

Help?

Thank you Bill. The problem was that my wife had decided not to download the
WGA tool which i suspect meant that she was not eligible to use WDB2.

That would do it. She might have seen some publicity related to WGA
recently. There are two separate WGA pieces--the WGA validation tool, and
the "Notification" tool.

The latter has generated some controversy because of its eula, which states
that it is pre-release code, and because it connects more often than folks
would like to a Microsoft server.

That update is definitely not necessary for Defender to function--but the
validation tool and updates to it are.
