WCESCOMM.exe error on boot up...

I am running a Windows 2000 machine with Office XP Pro. Lately, when I boot
up my machine I get the following error:

WCESCOMM.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000142). Click on OK to
terminate the application.

I did a few searches on various newsgroups and the MS Knowledge base but
can't find what this error is all about. Anybody ever see this error before
or know how to get rid of it? It is important to note that everything
appears to function properly after I OK out of the error message. Any help
would be appreciated.

I assume you're running ActiveSync for a Windows CE device of some sort?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling with the latest version.
