WAP going to sleep

I am running a wireless network with an irritating problem. I have a
broadband router connected into a ME102 Netgear WAP and three client
machines, all wireless. From time to time the link between the WAP and DSL
modem seems to stop, sometimes for a few seconds sometimes for several
minutes. I cannot ping the internet or the modem however I can ping other
client machines. The problem comes and goes, I can go for a day without any
problems and then have a day of interruptions every few minutes. Eliminating
the wireless network stops the effect. I can use DSL with a single wired
machine without any problems.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

It looks like a incompatibility issue or faulty WAP or cable.

Try replace the network cable.
Try upgrade the firmware:

Try contact Netgear technical support:

Try contact your ISP for technical support (They might not give you advise
though)
