W2K will not boot

My windows 2000pro will only boot as far as the first
splash screen and lockup. I can not boot in safe mode or
safe mode command. When I try to boot in safe mode it
will go as far as 3rd or 4th line. any ideas?

Usually the first splash screen tests your video card, if
it doesn't get past that, then maybe you have a bad video
card or driver. I suggest you take it to your local
computer repair shop and have it tested..

I'm experiencing this on a machine here at work, also.
The "good" part is I'm 90% sure it's a hard drive problem
since there have been messages recently about hard drive
problems on that machine. So this could be another thing
to check on in your case.

Ongoing or a new problem? Since you don't offer a lot of specifics, I'd
recommend an overwrite reinstall...
