Can't boot into safe mode

I can't seem to be able to boot my W2K computer into safe mode. It gets to
the point where it says "safe mode" in all four corners, and the W2K logo
with "windows is starting up" and the blue colored strip moves, but that's as
far as it goes.

Any ideas what the problem could be? I'm on a LAN, if that matters. Thanks!

Try using the boot menu (F8) and specify Last Known Good Configuration.
Otherwise, repair your installation with the CD-media. Perhaps a short
description of what was changed might have helped.

Hi! Nothing has changed, and I'm not having any problems...I just want to do
a thorough spyware scan, which I understand should be done in safe mode. A
scan in standard mode comes up clean, but I wanted to make sure that nothing
was being missed. No big deal...just wondered why I can't get into safe mode.

Thanks for the reply!

Are you waiting long enough.. it takes a long time. Go get a coffee from the
next town over and by then it should be up and running.
