W2K server reboots every 14 days automatically

Hi All:

Problem is as follows:
I have a Dell PowerEdge 2650 running W2K server SP4 which has been rebooting
itself for several months now. This always occurs every 14 days, and always
at the same time of day. This has not been a big issue for the users, but I
would like to clear it up before it becomes one.

Background:
No new hardware or software was added prior to the time when this began
occurring so I don't think that this is an issue. I have NetShield running on
the unit. BrightStore ArcServe 2000 is also running on it.

Troubleshooting steps so far:
- I have checked for a scheduled task, there are none.
- I have also set the unit up to NOT reboot automatically, so that if a BSOD
occurs, the info will still be there. No luck with that either - the system
still reboots.
- I have checked for virus related activity and found no suspicious files
entries etc.
- There does not appear to be much helpful in the event logs other than a
w32 time error.

If anyone has any info on where to check next, or has experienced a problem
of a similar nature I would appreciate any and all feedback ...

Thanks in advance

Do you have an UPS? Is it APC? If yes to both, I may have the answer.

I had this once and it was the APC battery that was failing, even though
there was no indication on the UPS panel

Hope this helps?

Yes - I DO have an APC UPS but it is no longer in use, as we've gone to the
building UPS instead. Do you think that there might be a residual registry
entry that could be causing this?

I am going to go check further on that line of thought. Thanks a bunch for
the reply. I'll let you know what comes of it!!

Dunno about any registry entry but try unplugging the serial cable that
senses the UPS condition for two weeks and see if it stays up.
