W/SUS question

With this last round of updates, it has become quite clear
that we need a better solution to update our clients. All
clients are W2K and no one has local admin access.

Can the updates be applied using SUS without local admin
rights?

What is the BEST way to distribute patches/updates when the
clients don't have local admin rights?

SUS is the best solution for you. The clients do not have
to be logged on during the update process. For more
information read the MS SUS site.

There is a limitation for SUS, that is it only update OS
patches and IE patches. That means if you want to patch
your office suite, you need other solution. But if you
won't mind that limiation, SUS is your best solution,
especially if you don't want to spend extra money (it is
free from MS). Client do not need admin right for SUS
update, in fact it is better to make sure no user has
local admin right before you implement SUS, that can avoid
a lot of trouble.
