Imported my email list from o ex onto new pc from several files due to my old
pc going kaput . Had to sort the contents to get correct list of people .
Since then my list of contacts is fine in windowsmail contact list but when i
action a new mail the "to" button does not list the windowsmail list but one
of my original file lists.

How do i force a new mail to use my windows mail contact is please

is it better for me to go back to oe express ?

cheers

Outlook Express won't run under Vista.

Windows Mail doesn't use the contacts list when completing the To:
line. It uses a separate list of the last 29 addresses you sent messages
to, which is hard to change except by sending messages to 29 more
addresses.

If you want to use the contacts list, don't type anything on the To:
line in your new message. Instead, click on Tools, then Select
Recipients in your new message window.

thank you Robert for a most helpful reply

I have solved my problem which is caused by me editing names of contacts by
right mousing on the name field in the contact list . In OE the name change
goes through to the name file but not in WM . In WM the amndment of a name
can only be actioned in the actual name file for the prson concerned

Cummone MS get this changed in WMail

You'll get a faster answer to questions about Windows Live Mail if
you ask them in its newsgroup:

microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

It can connect to Hotmail; Windows Mail can't.
