vpn hardware

I'm a newbie to VPN and I know about Windows XP's ability to act as a VPN server. I would
rather use a stand-alone dedicated VPN server if possible so I'd appreciate advice as to
what's around and what's good for this purpose. I simply want a device that will allow me
to access a small group of PC's on a LAN, including a networked printer, from a client PC
at remote location. The connection from the client to the vpn server would be over the
internet. I've seen a Linksys USBVPN1 and another VPN router on ebay but I don't know if
these are suitable for my purpose. I like Cisco gear but not sure what I should go for.
Thanks for any advice.

First advice - make your posts readable. Line length should never
exceed 72 chars, but 67 is better. All those silly wrapped lines
are a major pain.
